It's a scary world. Seems that danger lurks everywhere.

As for my malware experience, I try not to dwell on it. Two years ago, my son downloaded an attachment that had a spyware virus attached. Our home computer became infected and despite numerous attempts to eradicate it, our computer bit the dust. We have not replaced it. And to this day, we do not own a computer. My husband has been so disallusioned by the experience, that he vows to never buy a pc again. Perhaps, some day, a Mac...

Fortunately, we did not experience any phising attempts during this experience.

Ok, it's been crazy lately, but I'm trying to catch up and keep up this year!

I really enjoyed the LIFELONG LEARNING exercise! I explored all the suggested sites!
I have no intention of doing any serious college type learning at this juncture in my life. I have passed on the ecollege guide info to my kids.

The personal growth sites will be helpful. I intend to acquire a newer digital camera this spring and will be using the Nikon Photo School site!

Instructable and ehow will be visited often. I'm always curious about how things work, so HowStuffWorks and 5 Minute Lifeopedia are already a favorite. One of the first sets of books I purchased for my kids (before they could even talk - was a thre book set on how things work)! My son will love this site.

Gotta to move on to the next leason. So much to learn - so little time!

Although I enjoyed the latest learning exercise, I am still a hold out regarding social networking via the internet. As I've mentioned before, I value my privacy and my choice in the matter in which I share information. I also value immedicate, personal reaction from the person I chose to communitcate with.

I created an account with Orlando Memory, but I have no intenetion of utalizing it nor will I post anything to it. I may be your only hold out, but that is my perogative.

I do think there is a place for Orlando Memory in the community, for those who chose to share their memories with others via the internet. Again, I would rather share my idea, immpressions and photos on an up close and person basis.

The Orange Seed is a good way to throw ideas out for others to respond to; again, if that's your prefered method of transmission.

Per the directive, I researched the "secret stash site", SEOmoz Web 2.0 Awards and found: RECIPE KEY and ETSY.

RECIPE KEY: This application allows you to find recipes that meet your needs! There's an Ingredient Match which enables you to find recipes based on the
ingredients you already have. Have Food Allergies will automatically eliminate
recipes based on those allergies. Virtual Pantry allows you to see the ingredients
you need for any recipe and create a printed grocery list.

There are sections for a Featured ingredients and Featured Recipes. I tried a search for canberry-orange and found a recipe for muffins I'm going to try this weekend!

ETSY: I found this site interesting and particularly useful right now. I'm always looking for unusual gifts to give certain relatives that either have everything or have the means to attain anything. And, I know a creative type to share this site with. Maybe she'll cut me in on her profits...

Regarding the OCLS mission statement, the part about connects our changing community to the evolving world of ideas, information and technology through continuous innovation< speak to me most. I think of a "library" in gerneral as a house of information or as a place from which information can be accessed. It is important for any public or academic library to continue to evolve in the manner in which information is stored, accessed and distributed to its users.

As for my vision for the library of the future, more technology, more classes, more "less traditional" library media offered to its patrons.

Now about the Google search for self, gratefully there was nothing found. I know that social networking, You Tube, etc are now commonplace, but I don't intend to jump on board. I prefer my privacy. I prefer to chose and control whom I share personal information and photos. I feel that the use of the networking is both impersonal and often dishonest. I do not condone what I see as self grandizing. I feel as though the pedulum is swinging too far in the wrong direction! Call me old school, but that's what works for me.

I truly enjoyed this week's learning exercises.

I have been riding a stationary bike for approximately 3 years now. Over this course of time, I have had my slumps. And I have packed on pounds as a result. There are times when I want to quit before my 15 mile minimum session. But, CARDIO COACH would rally help me stay motivated!

NUTRITION DATA is fantastic! I browsed the site and added the RSS feed. I signed up for newsletters too! I feel that tracking my food intake would give me a more accurate indication of how my eating is affecting my overall feeling of wellness. The Healthy Dinner Tonight section is going to be helpful when I'm at a lost for what to prepare. I've already printed out a chicken recipe. The most exciting part of this site is the Analyze Recipe section. I have been collecting recipes for my personal cookbook (which I plan to give to each of my kids as a gift soon) Now I will be able to include a nutritional fact portion. My cookbook is going to be very informative and professional!

I'm looking forward to using these sites routinely!
